PCGen Importer

As indicated elsewhere, here is the file you need to introduce to your PCGen to export in the format that the d20Pro PCGen Plugin expects:

Grab the current release version of PCGen and drop the above file in ~/outputsheets/d20/fantasy/htmlxml and then choose this template when exporting your character.

Please note that the PCGen importer should still be considered Alpha and not everything is wired in yet. Ogemax and I are working with Devon from PCGen to get this finished in time for v3.2. Also, as it's a plugin it can be updated/released independent of releases of d20Pro.

right-click, then save as...

Save in your PCGen > outputsheets > d20 > fantasy > htmlxml directory

Hey, I'm getting this error when I try to import from pcgen using the file above. I right clicked and saved link as so it would save the .xml file.

There error I am getting is.

This plugin is invalid. Please recompile it using the latest API and try again.
Caused by: com/mindgene/d20/common/D20Rules$Size.
When I save the character output from pcgen I am clicking export, selecting the format from the file linked above and then clicking export then save. I close the export window, verify the file was saved in the characters folder. Go to import into d20pro and receive that error.

This the same v3.1.908 bug that disrupted the Hero Lab importer. Please try again with .909 (should be out tonight) and it should work.

Hey Thraxxis,

While we test this and play around with importing, seeing what is or is not there etc. A question came up. Is there a way to export a character from D20pro and import it into pcgen?

I said doubtful, but I am asking here just in case I am wrong.

Good question, and your hunch serves you well. The import is currently a one-way road.

We are certainly receptive to the idea of a round trip back to PCGen though. I'll speak with their devs about this for a future release.

In the meantime, the PCGen importer is wrapping up - expect a new version of it soon. We are still on track to have it done (and v3.2 out the door) ahead of Origins at the end of the month.

I am curious, where can I check for updates on the pcgen importer? I have looked at the pcgen website, but am at a loss of where to check for this plugin specifically. Any help on this would be great, so it will make it easier for me to point my players to a link for the updated plugin whenever it is available.

I just sent the PCGen dev, Devon, I've been working with an email asking about an update. I'll post back here when I hear back.
